Patrician Brothers are
a group of men
who try to follow Christ in
their daily life
through
Prayer
Eucharist
Community Life
Christian Services
They work for Christ by
ministering to others
so as to bring to all
the GOOD NEWS
of His Kingdom
Named after the apostle of
Ireland, SAINT PATRICK,
the Patrician Brothers were founded in 1808 at Tullow in Ireland by
BISHOP
DANIEL DELANY.
At that time, ordinary
people, and particularly
the young, faced very bleak futures. Education offered a way forward
and
very quickly become the main means by which the Brothers tried to help
them realise their true potential.
From wry difficult
beginnings in Tullow, the Brothers
of Saint Patrick took up the challenge o educating youth throughout
Ireland.
Schools and orphanages were established later in India, Australia,
California,
Kenya and Papua New Guinea. Today , besides conducting Primary and
Secondary
schools, the Brothers are engaged in a wide range of works. Recently,
the
Patrician Brothers undertook to be involved in apostolates which would
address the CRYING NEEDS of the people of God which are currently not
being
met.
Their motivation to bring
the. Kingdom of God
to the needy is contained in THE BREASTPLATE OF SAINT PATRICK:
Christ in
the heart of everyone
who
thinks of me
Christ in
the mouth of everyone
who
speaks to me.
Being involved in such a
wide range of ministries,
the PATRICIAN COMMUNITY is a group of unique members, differing in
personality,
backgrounds, temperaments, desires, goals and ideals. Nevertheless, the
Patrician Community allows such unique and differing members to come
together
to pray, to share Eucharist, to learn from and to help one another and
to enjoy Community. Each Brother works for a union of minds and hearts
among the members of his local, provincial and international
Communities.
Love
GOD
and live
together
in peace
and charity
