Aitape
St Ignatius
High School |
1968 - 2001 |
Two Brothers began the ministry at
Saints with others to soon swell their numbers until the opening of St
Francis when numbers were reduced to two again. The last few years had
just one Brother in the school.

Nuku
St Francis
High School
|
1978 - 1994
|
Two Brothers literally carved this school out
of the PNG jungles. The school, like St Ignatius, was opened by the Catholic
Diocese of Aitape.
Nuku (the school area known as Walamu) was the location of the beginning
of Patrician formation in PNG.

Laingim |
1989 |
This isolated location was the site of the first
novitiate. The postulancy remained at Walamu.
(Photo: Brother Philip Turner - far right upstairs - with young Papua
New Guineans training to be Patrician Brothers. Laingim is a very isolated
area and perhaps too isolated. The formation house was soon moved to Aitape.)

Aitape
Bishop's Hill |
1989 - |
As soon as this site became available in Aitape
the novitiate was moved here. It became the sole Patrician training centre.
It has been developed considerably since. It's on a hill overlooking Aitape
bay: beautiful!
(Photo: 2002 postulants at Bishops Hill with Norbert - far left - and

work is a real "trust in God" exercise with few Brothers to show for many
years of hard work. But we persevere.) |

take over this government school in an attempt to lift its academic standard
and to improve facilities. They did.
