The Bicenterary Events


Bicentenary events in Australia and Papua New Guinea started in October, 2007, and formally concluded in October, 2008. Below are some summaries and photos of the main events.



Appreciation Dinner
In October of 2007 current and ex Patrician Brothers gathered for a reunion and for the opportunity to acknowledge the very real contribution of those who were once Patrician - and still are in many ways - to the Patrician story.
Grave & Parish Visits
In October, 2007, all the Patricians in the Australian & PNG province went out to all the locations where Patrician Brothers are buried.
Ryde Picnic Day On the 16th December, 2007, an open invitation was put out to anyone who would like to attend a Patrician picnic day at Ryde. 
Indian Immersion Experience
In early January, 2008, a group of twenty-five, made up of Brothers, Patrician-linked school staff and students, and family and friends, went for a two-week immersion experience of Patrician ministry in India.
Foundation Day
On the 2nd February, 2008, the Patricians came together at Ryde to celebrate the day on which they were founded by Bishop Delany in 1808. 
Alumni Celebration
On the 3rd February, 2008, the Alumni of the inner-city schools had their annual Eucharist and lunch. This year the get-together was dedicated to celebrating the bicentenary. 
Bicentenary Eucharist
This took place at the State Sports Centre, Homebush Bay on the 17th March. Over 6,000 attended.
Bicentenary Concert This spectacular event took place at the ACER Arena on the 30th April.
PNG Revisited
2008 is also the 40th anniversary of the Brothers' arrival in PNG. The pioneers returned for a visit.
Irish Prilgrimage
During the first two weeks of July a group from Australia toured Ireland to visit the places of Patrician interest.
Lorica Brothers from around the world gathering in Carlow, Ireland, for the Patrician Lorica renewal programme.
Irish Celebrations Celebrations in Ireland including Patricians and friends from Australia were the Bicentenary Eucharist and the Education Seminar.
Bicentenary Dinner
On the 18th October at the Liverpool Catholic Club, more than 600 people gathered to formally farewell the bicentenary.
