On the 3rd of March, many of the Brothers gathered with the alumni of
the inner-Sydeny schools for their celebration of bicentenary. These
are the ex-students of the Brothers’ schools at Redfern (1886-1962),
Forest Lodge (1892-1967) and Waterloo (1908-1963).
For many years this
annual gathering of alumni had been organised by Mr Kevin Scott who
also was responsible for the alumni newsletter “The Green Sash”.
Regular readers of “The Breastplate” will remember with sadness that
Kevin died last year. So his good friend Mr Kevin Hilferty - they went
to school together in the 1930s and 1940s - took the reins of the
dinner. He did a great job. (Photo:

Fr John Knight,
parish priest of Our Lady of Mt Carmel, chaplain of the Sydney Catholic
Club where the gathering was held, and patron of “The Green Sash”,
celebrated the Mass. More than 70 ex-students and/or their wives
attended the function. Kevin Scott’s wife, Rhonda, and daughter Gai,
also attended. (Photo: Br

Unfortunately, it seems that the last edition of “The Green Sash” was
that written by Kevin Scott himself last year as he waited for God’s
final call. What an amazing legacy he has left the Patrician
congregation.
