In 1999 it was decided that the Brothers would move out of the Liverpool monastery and set up a house in the nearby suburb of Casula. This was a radical move but one which had been contemplated for several years: the Liverpool monastery was in poor structural condition and its location was not conducive to monastic living so the Brothers had been looking for alternative accommodation.

It was indeed with sad hearts that the Brothers finally closed the doors of the Liverpool monastery for the last time, doors which had been passed through by so many Brothers and their friends since 1958.

The Casula house opened in 2000 and its first occupants were Brother Paul O'Keeffe, Provincial; Brother Matthew Mahoney who remained as Principal at Liverpool until the end of 2000 and then moved to Holy Cross community where he was Principal; and Brother Nicholas Harsas who was Principal of the Primary School at Fairfield.

The rationale behind the Casula house was not the same as the Bradbury venture. The primary intent of Bradbury was to be an active presence within the community. Whilst the Casula community was primarily established to take the place of the Liverpool monastery.
