Mission Statement
Patrician Brothers'
College, Blacktown
 is a friendly and
caring community
 where each person
is challenged to
 grow in a
Catholic Environment.

We recognise that such growth is a life-long
 process involving the individual's spiritual,
 emotional, moral,
intellectual, social,
 interpersonal and
physical development.

This Catholic community strongly believes in
and demonstrates
the Gospel values of faith,
 justice, tolerance, hope, honesty, service,trust,
 forgiveness and respect.
Our community also
 values the Patrician ideal
of friendliness and
love of all creation,
 especially the poor.

 We strive for excellence
and foster
 a love of learning.
 By encouraging staff,
pupils and clergy
 to work and pray together
we build a
 community where
"Christ Reigns"

In 1950 the Provincial of the Brothers, Br Norbert Phelan,  was approached  to open a school in either Blacktown or Wentworthville. Blacktown was chosen but it was not until the 28th of January, 1952,  that the school was opened with 129 primary students and a staff of three: Brothers Gerard Histon (P), John Thompson, and Basil Downey. In 1982 there were 1,039 Year 5 to Year 10 students and a teaching staff of fifty-eight. In the year of the College's Golden Jubilee (2002) there were just over 1000 Year 7 to Year 12 students and sixty teachers.

First Community: Brothers John Thompson,
Basil Downey, and Gerard Histon

From the opening of the school until August of 1955 the Brothers travelled from the monastery at Granville. The first Superior of the Brothers' community was Brother Benedict Olsen who was also the school's principal. Brother Benedict initiated a massive project to provide
the students with an environment and sporting
facilities which soon became the envy of nearby
schools and the pride and joy of St Patrick's

1952 The story begins with three Brothers and 129 students.

students, staff, and parents. With three football ovals, a cricket oval, cricket nets, and tennis courts, the sporting needs of the students was well catered for. In the late 1960s with the implementation of the education Wyndam Scheme the emphasis would be on the development of teaching facilities. The leadership for this development was provided by long-term principal Brother Bernard Bulfin and within a matter of a few years the college had all the necessary educational facilities to enable it students to achieve an excellent preparation for both their personal and professional lives.

The 1990s saw massive alterations to the college. Under the principalship of Brother Patrick Lovegrove, and due to a new educational rationalisation of systemic Catholic schools the Blacktown district, a huge new building transformation began in 1993. Then in 1997, after forty-five years, the process of closing the primary section began. Complementing this closure was the opening of the senior secondary which took place in 1998.
