Departure from Thursday Island

After eleven years the Brothers had created a close connection with the people of T.I. and with the people of the neighbouring islands: leaving was difficult.

At the farewell party a short address from founding member Paul O'Keeffe was read; a prayer service was held to thank the people who had given the Brothers so much support over their short stay there; a plaque was presented to the parish to mark the Brothers' presence and again to thank the parish; and a sumptuous BBQ was enjoyed by all present.

It is hoped that the Brothers' eleven years on T.I. made a difference to the lives of the people they ministered to; there is no doubt that T.I. enriched the lives of the Brothers.
