Leadership Transfer Ceremony

And so on Sunday the 19th February, we gathered at noon at Fairfield. It is estimated that well over one hundred people attended. This included David's immediate family here in Sydney, present and past Patrician Brothers, past colleagues, and just a whole lot of friends.

A candle for each of the Sullivan family. David lights one for Anna.
The children read their petitions with co-youngest Dan waiting his turn.
We started with a prayer service prepared jointly by Br Aengus and David himself with the children contributing the prayers of the faithful. After the service David said a few words making very special mention of Anna and emotionally thanking all those who had made the day possible. A real highlight was when each of the children introduced themselves to the gathering. Their young London accents were like music to the ear.

It was then into the air-conditioned comfort of the College staff room - it was a very warm day - for a BBQ banquet where many hugs were had and many reconnections made. (Photo: The College presented each of the children with a "showbag" of goodies to help them enjoy and remember their time at Fairfield and Australia.)

Thank you to the organising committee for bringing this day together; thank you to Mr Krawec and the staff and students of the College for the work they did and for their great hospitality; thank you to David's sister Ann and her family for their assistance with the day; thank you to all those who attended; and thank you to David and Joseph, Ben, Carla, Silvia, Monica, and Daniel, for coming to visit us and for being available for the rigours of such an event.
