St Pat's Day 2006

The Brothers did do their own things as well. The usual crowd took themselves off  to the St Patrick's Day Mass at St Mary's Cathedral and the St Patrick's Day March. One Brother, Br Peter Higgins - one of our two Golden Jubilarians in 2006, the other being Br Joseph Byrne - featured very prominently in both.

Back at home in their monasteries, celebratory activities included special prayers and usually a special meal of some form. The Ryde community decided to invite over a few guests, thirty of them: local priests and religious. It's an annual thing - the Brothers have it down to a fine art - and much looked forward to and very much appreciated by all who attend and who serve.

So a good day was had by all it seems. St Patrick's Day was, and will always will be,  a great opportunity for us all to celebrate the spirit of Saint Patrick and to celebrate our share in the many facets of its heritage.
