Some School News

We don't normally cover too much about what's happening in the Patrician-linked schools because far too much is happening in the schools; but here are a few items which especially stand-out for us.

Award: Delany College, Granville, won the 2005 National Award for Quality Schooling, an award which came with a substantial cheque.

Mr Kevin Jones (pictured), Principal in 2005, was able to travel to Canberra to receive the award on behalf of Delany College.

We congratulate Mr Jones, his staff, and students, on receiving this award.

Celtic Cross: Since 2003, Patrician Brothers' College, Fairfield, have had the statue of Bishop Delany (founder of the Patrician Brothers) overseeing the playground activities of its 1200 plus students.

On St Patrick's Day just passed, the college added a celtic cross to this most prominent position. Soon the cement surrounding the statue and cross will be painted.

It is quite an awesome and inspiring sight. Surely Bishop Delany would be pleased: the Brothers are.

Kenya Donation:  Holy Cross College, Ryde,  had a mufti-day on St Patrick's Day to raise money to send to the Patrician Brothers in Kenya.

At that time we just happened to have Br Marcellus Broderick (photo) with us here at Ryde who is on his way home to Kenya and so the cheque was presented to him.

Thank you, Holy Cross.
