of the Brothers. Most of the
priests of the diocese were present as well. Unfortunately both
Ron's parents have passed-on, but in their place were family members
including Ron's three brothers and some who had travelled all the way
from The Netherlands. About twelve Brothers were able to attend, but
there were also many religious who Ron had linked with over the years.
The church overflowed with so many whose lives had been touched by Ron,
some many years ago when Ron was just a lad and others very recently.
Ron was not the only Patrician
boy on the sanctuary: welcoming him to the priesthood community of the
Wollongong diocese were Fathers John Stock and Chris D'Souza. And not
only are these ex-Pat boys, they are both ex-Fairfield Pats boys, Fr
Chris in fact once being a classmate of Ron's.
After the Mass the congregation
moved over to the school hall. Ron gave a second speech here where he
recognised those who had helped him along the way. A hearty banquet had
been prepared and the friends-of-Ron mingled on for many an hour.
We hope to have Ron to
ourselves in the near future so we can celebrate together as brothers
this wonderful event in all our lives.
