The message that all these words and stories carried was that Joseph was a man many people cared a great deal about. This was also evident in the demeanour of the students during the ceremony showing great attention and respect. There was also a group of ex-students who attended: an obvious sign of the affection students had for him as he strove to minister to their personal and spiritual needs. Mr Alan McManus in his concluding words spoke of the relationship which exists between Magdalene Catholic High School and the Patrician Brothers, a relationship which will now be evident  for as long as the school stands through the dedication of the oval to Br Joseph Crowley. A relationship and heritage which the school is truly grateful for and proud of.

Within an hour of the blessing and dedication of the oval the oval was "christened", as Mr McManus put it, by the playing of a staff vs student touch-football match. And then yet another and perhaps more serious rugby league game later in the day.
