Bunny Mulhall R.I.P. 1914-2005

Here in the website we don't always mention the death of people other than the Brothers themselves, but when you have someone who has been as closely associated with the congregation as Dorothy "Bunny" Mulhall, then mention her passing we must.

Bunny, mother of our Brother Philip Mulhall and sister-in-law of our dear departed Brother Celestine Mulhall, died in her sleep on the 15th December.  She had been suffering the affects of dementia for several years and while her death is a great loss, it is also something of a release.

On the very hot Wednesday afternoon of December the 21st, several hundred people gathered at the Penrith parish church for the funeral. It was a beautiful Mass, a Mass celebrating a life dedicated to family, to those in need, and to God. Some of the words and phrases heard about Bunny at the funeral were "always smiling", "there for others", "devoted to her many families", "never missed a Patrician do", "always praying", and "she loved her God".

Bunny was buried in the Penrith General Cemetry next to her husband Neville, - affectionately known as "Boomps" - who died in 1981.

For over fifty years, Bunny, in the words of Br Aengus Kavanagh (Provincial), "was an ardent fan, supporter...faithful fellow-traveller with the Patricians." We will miss her smile, bubbly personality, and love. But we know that she will continue to be a fan and supporter as she enjoys the rewards of her love.
