Br Berchmans Athakkad
Celebrates 50 Years a Patrician
- and so do we!

The Golden Jubilee celebration for Br. Berchmans was organised at Patrick Nivas, Bangalore on the 23rd December. In keeping with his wishes, the celebration was simple yet meaningful.

Br. Christu, the Socius organised a multi-media prayer service followed by the novices presenting a few songs and dances before we settled into a special dinner at which he was presented with bouquets and a gift. Br. Basil, the Director of the CRI Brothers’ Institute in
Bangalore and I were the only invitees.

A second celebration took place today at St. Patrick’s School in Adyar at the conclusion of the retreat. The local community arranged a
dinner to mark the event. At the concluding Mass of the retreat Br. Berchmans was specially remembered and thanked for his contribution to the Congregation and Province and Br. Jerome said a few words again on the rich and varied contribution made by Br. Berchmans to the
Congregation and province in particular just before the celebration began in Chennai.
